Considering it’s my home page on all of my computers, I’m getting tired of seeing the old post so I figured I’d update with something new.

Earlier this month, I used my income tax returns to purchase UMI 3-point Subframe Connectors, Hawk HPS brake pads, and a set of 4 HPA drilled and slotted rotors. Red Alert should be getting some mods this spring!

Got more done to Red Alert today. It seems the weekends are the only time I’m able to do anything. My dad has been brilliant through the week getting a lot of stuff done for me. It pays to have a retired father as part of your Pit Crew. I really look forward to the “Father and Son” weekend work. Definitely, by far, the best dad anyone could ask for! Into the same hobby as me and willing to help me out with getting stuff done. This project DEFINITELY would be no where near as far along as it is if it weren’t for him. Thanks dad!!!

And here are the pictures. There’s a lot of duplicates of a hose for the EVAP system. I was trying to figure out where it really goes, but since then I’ve talked to a few people who have said simply: DITCH THE EVAP! Rock on, less crap on the intake manifold! I’m always game for that. One more item to throw in the deleted emissions items box that I have.

And the pics:

Sometimes you want to create a popup for a virtual field you’re using, but when you create an SSHD popup it wants to relate to an SSHD form. This is a complete waste of time in my opinion because the popups in SSHD never go to another form – they’re just used on the form itself. So how do we create a popup without having to deal with that? Simple – use SQL Enterprise Manager or SQL Management Studio! In this post, I’ll walk you through the process!

Tables to Know

There are four main tables that will be used – 3 to update, 1 for information. The informational table we’ll use is SMSYSBASEVIEWDATA – this table houses which fields are in what modules. It also includes the TableSeq and the ColSeq which will be useful in the next tables.

The main changes will be done to NAMSYSCSPOPUPS, NAMSYSCSLANGPOPUPS, and NAMSYSCSFOLDERS. NAMSYSCSPOPUPS contains the sequence number of the popup itself, very basic information. NAMSYSCSLANGPOPUPS takes the sequence number from the previous table and assigns it a new sequence value according to which language the popup is in. Last, but not least, NAMSYSCSFOLDERS takes the language popup sequence value and applies which fields will appear in the popup itself.

As with all modifications, before making a modification directly to the database *MAKE A BACKUP!*

SMSYSBASEVIEWDATA

This table should only be edited under extremely rare circumstances. It’s the main table that says which fields are in what module and if you screw that up then your data will be corrupt. You’ll want to use some basic queries to find the TBLSEQ and COLSEQ for the fields you want to use in your popup. For example, if you wanted to create a new popup for Incident, you would run a query to return all fields where TBLSEQ=24. If you don’t know the table seq of your custom module you created, tell the query to return all results where VIEWCOLNAME equals a unique field name in your module. This will tell you the table seq, and then you can run another query to show all fields with the matching TBLSEQ. Write down on a piece of paper or in NotePad the TBLSEQ of the module you want to create the popup for, and write down the COLSEQ and VIEWCOLNAME for the fields that you want to include in your popup.

NAMSYSCSPOPUPS

This table is pretty straight forward. Only 5 columns [including Sequence and LastModified]. What you’ll need to do here is first find out what the next available sequence value is and manually type it at the bottom row where it says NULL. I usually skip putting anything in LastModified because it will be entered automatically. For SYSTEM, it’s a boolean field and I usually follow suit of other popups in the table and use ‘1′. Next is where we use the information from the SMSYSBASEVIEWDATA table – MODSEQ is the Module Sequence value that you want the popup to be used for. So, refer to the piece of paper or notepad and enter in the TBLSEQ value into this column. Last, but not least, we need to give the popup a name! Hit enter or tab so it adds the record into the database! Either keep this table open for reference, or write down the number in the Sequence column you just used to create this popup.

NAMSYSCSLANGPOPUPS

This table has a lot more columns but it’s all pretty straight forward. As with our last table, you’ll want to find the next available sequence number to use in the Sequence column. In my personal experience, I’ve always noticed that the Sequence value in this table is always 20000 + (the sequence from previous table). So, if in NAMSYSCSPOPUPS your sequence was 20020, the sequence value used here will usually be 40020. Again, skip the LastModified column, and then in POPUPSEQ enter in the sequence from the previous table. LANGSEQ is a numerical value – 1 is English. For the DisplayName, enter what you want it to say at the top of the popup. The remaining columns I simply copy what the system entries have. Black, #f1f1f1, black, white, 0, 1, transparent, asc. Hit enter or tab out of the record so it gets applied to the database and again note the Sequence value you just created in the respective column (IE: 400020).

NAMSYSCSFOLDERS

Last, but not least, is the Folders table. I always remember this table because the folder is holding all of the fields you want displayed in your popup. In this case, Sequence is simply the next available number. It will not be a case of “add 20000″ because the sequence will go up for each field on your popup. Skipping LastModified, the Reserved column is the numerical place the field should appear in the popup (starting with the “0″ place). POPUPSEQ is the value from the previous table that you used (IE: 40020). COLSEQ is the value you’ve been hanging onto on the other sheet or in notepad. It’s the same column from SMSYSBASEVIEWDATA. Enter in the ColSeq, give it a Display Name (or use VIEWCOLNAME) and then enter a width. In this case, once you’ve applied that entry to the database, create your next row in the database for the next field you want in the popup. Repeat this procedure until all of the fields you wanted in the popup are entered into this table.

Final Steps

After you’ve applied the changes, you’ll need to recycle the “Self Service Express – SDE” application pool in IIS. This will expire any active sessions in Self-Service so if you are doing this to a production environment that sees heavy use throughout the day you might want to wait until evening.
